Photo Booth Rental Cost in 2026: Prices, Fees, Alternatives

Written by

Published on

Quick answer: a photo booth rental costs a median of $681 per event in 2026, and the middle half of rentals fall between $452 and $1,022. Corporate events pay more, with a median of $899. Those figures come from Check Cherry's 2026 pricing guide, which covers about 118,000 rentals.

This guide breaks that number down by event type, booth type and hours, lists the fees that sit outside the headline price, and shows what it costs to buy a booth instead. It then covers the option more conference teams are choosing: no booth, with AI sending every attendee the photographer's photos of them.

  • Median rental: $681 per event; corporate $899; wedding $886.
  • By length: $699 for three hours, $800 for four, $993 for five or more.
  • By type: $615 for a classic open-air booth, up to $950 for a glam booth.
  • Extras: 18% of rentals add a travel fee and 26% add paid extras.
  • The alternative: the photographer you already hired, a QR code and a selfie. No hardware on site.

How much does a photo booth rental cost in 2026?

The most complete public data set is Check Cherry's, built from about 118,000 photo booth rentals booked on its platform since January 2024. Across all of them the median event costs $681 and the average is about $867. The top 10% clear $1,642.

Prices have moved slowly. The market-wide median was $675 in 2024 and $700 in 2026. Among operators in the data for the whole period, 55% raised prices by more than 5%, 26% held within 5% and 19% lowered them.

Photo booth rental cost by event type

The occasion matters more than most buyers expect. Corporate events are the most expensive category.

Attended or drop-off

A booth with an attendant has a median of about $656. A drop-off booth, set up and left for guests to use, has a median of about $450. At a corporate event you will usually want the attendant, because someone has to keep the queue moving and the prints coming.

The fees outside the headline price

The quote you compare is rarely the invoice you pay. The same data shows where the extra lines come from:

  • Travel. 18% of rentals include a travel fee. The median fee is $50 and the top 10% clear $150.
  • Add-ons. 26% of rentals include paid extras such as a custom backdrop, a guest book or more prints. The median add-on spend is $147 and the top 10% spend $500 or more.
  • Deposits. 47% of bookings take a flat deposit and 44% take a percentage. The most common percentage is 50%.
  • Season. May carries 14% of the year's events, and June and December 12% each. January carries under 5%. Book early for the busy months.

What national operators list on their price pages

Operator price pages show how the formats compare. Pixster's pricing page lists these starting prices:

FormatStarting price
Selfie station$545
Open-air booth$695
Roaming selfie booth$695
AI booth$795
360 video booth$795
Green screen booth$895
Glam booth$895
Event photographer$1,200

Pixster says most rentals include setup and teardown, an attendant, unlimited sessions, custom photo designs, digital sharing and a private online gallery. Note the last row. A booth and an event photographer are sold side by side, as two separate lines.

What does a photo booth cost to buy?

Teams that run many events sometimes ask whether to own one. As a reference point, Photobooth Supply Co lists its Salsa 2 booth at $2,999. That price does not include the iPad, a printer or the software subscription. At the corporate median of $899, the booth alone equals a little over three rentals, before you add the tablet, the printer, print media, transport and a person to run it.

Print media is a running cost. The Pricer's review of Kodak photo kiosks puts dye-sub media at about 16.7 cents for each 4×6 print.

What a corporate photo booth rental buys, and what it misses

A booth does one job well. People who walk up to it get a fun, branded photo straight away. At a conference or brand event it also has limits:

  • It photographs one corner. The keynote, the panel, the awards and the hallway conversations happen somewhere else. Our guide to conference photography lists the moments attendees actually want.
  • It reaches only the people who queue. Attendees who never walk over go home with nothing.
  • It runs by the hour. When the rental ends, the photos stop.
  • It multiplies with the agenda. A three-day conference at the corporate median pays about $2,697 for three daily rentals.
  • It sits beside a photographer you are already paying. A corporate event photographer covers the whole event and takes better photos, which usually reach attendees days later in one shared gallery.

Photo booth alternatives for corporate events

If the goal is for attendees to leave with a photo they want to post, there are four routes that do not involve a classic booth.

AlternativeWhat it isEquipment on siteLimit
Selfie stationA tablet on a stand, unattendedStand, tablet, lightStill one spot, still a queue
Roaming boothA staff member with a handheld boothHandheld unitReaches more people, same posed photo
Guest-upload QR albumAttendees upload their own phone photosA printed codePhone quality, and nobody finds their own
AI photo deliveryEach attendee gets the photographer's photos of themA printed codeNeeds an event photographer

The AI alternative: no booth, and every attendee gets their photos

This approach removes the hardware. Your event photographer shoots as usual, and software does the three jobs the booth and the editing desk used to do.

  1. It picks the photos. AI scores every frame and keeps the best of each burst, so closed eyes and near-duplicates never go out. It is the culling step photographers use DeepCull for in same-day delivery.
  2. It finds the person. An attendee scans a QR code on a screen or badge, takes one selfie in the phone's browser, and sees every photo they appear in. There is no app, and attendees are not asked for an email address or phone number.
  3. It adds the brand. Each photo carries the event or sponsor frame and is ready to share on LinkedIn while the event is still running.

This is what FilterPixel Live does at conferences and corporate events, with more than 100 events delivered live. The equipment list is the photographer's camera and the attendee's phone.

"One of the biggest pain points in organizing any event is sharing the pictures. By the time you do, the social moment is gone. People get their photos right there, and they share them right away."

What an event team saves by dropping the booth

If you already pay for an event photographer, the booth is the line you can stop renting. Using the Check Cherry corporate figures:

Your programmeBooth rental you stop payingHow it is worked out
One evening event$899Corporate median
One three-day conference$2,697Three daily rentals at the corporate median
Ten events a year$8,990Ten rentals at the corporate median
Ten premium events a year$13,690Ten rentals at the upper quarter, $1,369

These are rental lines only, before travel fees and add-ons. They are not a net saving. FilterPixel Live is priced per event by attendance and this article does not quote that price, so ask for the quote and set it against the row that matches your programme.

Five questions to ask before you compare quotes

  1. How many of your attendees used the booth at your last event? Ask the operator for the session count.
  2. How many hours and days are you renting for, and what does an extra hour cost?
  3. Are travel, branding and prints inside the quote or added to it?
  4. Do you already have a photographer booked, and when do their photos reach attendees today?
  5. What matters more to the sponsor: a printed strip, or a branded photo posted on LinkedIn?

When a photo booth is still the right call

A booth earns its place when the print is the point. Wedding guests like a strip for the fridge, and a 360 or glam booth is entertainment in its own right. If you want a keepsake and the queue is part of the fun, rent the booth. Wedding studios who want both can read how wedding photo sharing runs alongside live prints.

If your goal is for every attendee to post a good photo of themselves at your event, the photographer's photos, delivered by AI, do that job without hardware.

On consent: under Article 9 of the GDPR, biometric data used to identify a person is special-category data. FilterPixel asks each adult attendee before any selfie and uses it only to find that attendee's photos. People who do not opt in are not matched.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average cost to rent a photo booth?

Check Cherry's 2026 pricing guide, based on about 118,000 rentals booked on its platform, puts the median event at $681 and the average at about $867. The middle half of rentals cost between $452 and $1,022, and the top 10% clear $1,642.

How much does a corporate photo booth rental cost?

More than the overall figure. In the same data the median corporate rental is $899, the middle half runs from $650 to $1,369, and the top 10% clear $2,100.

How much do photo booths charge per hour?

Most are sold as packages, not by the hour. Check Cherry's medians are $495 for two hours or less, $699 for three hours, $800 for four and $993 for five or more. That works out to about $233 an hour at three hours and $200 an hour at four.

How much does a good photo booth cost to buy?

As one reference point, Photobooth Supply Co lists its Salsa 2 booth at $2,999. That price does not include the iPad, a printer or the software subscription.

Why do some photo booths cost $500 and others over $1,000?

Format, hours and staffing. A classic open-air booth has a median of $615 and a glam booth $950. An attended booth has a median of about $656 against about $450 for a drop-off booth with nobody running it.

What are the hidden fees in a photo booth rental?

Travel and add-ons. In Check Cherry's data 18% of rentals carry a travel fee, with a median of $50, and 26% include add-ons, with a median add-on spend of $147.

What is the alternative to a photo booth at a corporate event?

Use the photographer you have already hired. Attendees scan a QR code, take a selfie and get every photo they appear in on their phone, with the event's branding, while the event is still running.

Does AI photo delivery replace the event photographer?

No. It replaces the booth, the printer and the wait. A photographer still takes the photos; the software picks the best frames and sends each attendee their own.

Is face matching at events allowed?

It needs clear consent. Under the GDPR, biometric data used to identify a person is special-category data. FilterPixel asks each adult attendee before any selfie, and people who do not opt in are not matched. Check the rules for your country with your own counsel.

Drop the booth, keep the photos

Photo booth rental cost is easy to look up: a median of $681, and $899 for corporate events. The better question is what the rental is for. If it is there so attendees leave with a branded photo, the photographer you already hired can deliver that to every phone in the room.
