Why no face scans

Is facial recognition safe for youth sports photos?

It carries real legal risk. The FTC's amended COPPA Rule, in effect since June 23, 2025 with compliance required by April 22, 2026, treats biometric identifiers such as facial templates as personal information for children under 13, which needs verifiable parental consent. FilterPixel matches athletes by jersey number and roster instead, so no facial template is created. Read the rule. Review your consent forms with your own counsel.
