Quick answer

How do graduates get their commencement photos?

Commencement photos usually come from an official commencement photography company that photographs each graduate crossing the stage, tags the photos to names and sends proofs later. The University of Florida sends proof links within 10 days of commencement weekend, and Sacred Heart University sends a free digital proof within three weeks. Live delivery puts the best frames on phones by QR code while the ceremony is still running, branded with the institution and ready to share.

Privacy

Is face matching allowed at graduation ceremonies?

Only with notice and consent, and never for minors. Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act and Texas' biometric identifier law require consent before biometric data is collected, and the GDPR treats biometric data used to identify people as special-category data. FilterPixel is QR-first: selfie matching is opt-in for adult graduates and guests, and any ceremony can run with no face matching at all. Many high-school graduates are under 18, so high-school ceremonies use code-based access only. Check with your own counsel.

It can be, with notice and consent. Illinois BIPA, Texas' biometric identifier law and the GDPR all set consent rules for biometric data. That's why FilterPixel is QR-first, with selfie matching opt-in for adults only, and any ceremony can run with no face matching.

High-school ceremonies use code-based access only, with no face matching. Many high-school graduates are under 18, and FilterPixel never uses face matching for minors.

Show the QR code on screens, programs or signage, and decide whether selfie matching is on. Photographers upload as they shoot, and your comms team posts from the live hub.

Pricing depends on the number of ceremonies and photographers. Terms are agreed in writing before your commencement.
