Unwrap FilterPixel 4.0
We’re beyond excited to introduce the biggest update we’ve ever shipped—FilterPixel 4.0 Beta 🎉 It’s faster, smarter, and more photographer-friendly than ever—and for the first time, culling and editing merged inside one clean, powerful interface.
No more app-switching. Everything you need is now in one place.
Let’s Dive In
Here is a brief run down of what exciting features you are going to find in FilterPixel 4.0 and we at Filterpixel are very excited!
All-in-One Interface
No more jumping between culling and editing apps. FilterPixel 4.0 brings your entire post-production workflow available in one single app. Cull, edit, preview, and export without breaking your rhythm. It’s clean, intuitive, and designed to speed things up without disrupting your style.
Clean Look
As you begin your culling/editing process, open the app and start a project. Drag any mix of RAW, JPG, or JPEG files straight into FilterPixel.
Start A Project
Make sure to name your project for easy organising and make sure to choose what kind of project you are working on.
Set Your Culling Preference
Not every photographer works the same—and FilterPixel 4.0 gets that. That’s why we’ve built two flexible ways to tell the AI how to sort your photos, along with full control over how the results are labeled.
Option 1: Magic Number Tool
Say you just shot a wedding and imported 700 images. You know you only want to keep the best 100.
Instead of spending hours clicking through every image, just enter your Magic Number, and FilterPixel will instantly pick the top 100 images using its AI scoring—sharpness, composition, expressions, and more.
It’s fast, accurate, and feels like having a second pair of eyes (without the back-and-forth).
Option 2: Culling Preference
If you don't want to use Magic Number, click on Advanced Options and go to Configure Culling and set your preferences. Tell the AI how would you like your pictures to be culled. Instead of a one-size-fits-all filter, you can fine-tune how FilterPixel evaluates three key quality factors:
Duplicate Photos – Decide how strict the AI should be with a duplicate set of photos.
Blink Detection – Set how strictly you want to eliminate shots where subjects blink.
Focus Quality – Control how sharp a photo must be to make the cut.
Each of these comes with a slider that lets you set your sorting style:
-
Strict – Ideal for high-volume photographers who want only the sharpest, clearest moments.
-
Moderate – Balanced setting for most types of shoots.
-
Lenient – Great if you have to deliver large set or prefer reviewing more yourself.
Set Your View
Everyone likes to review their photos a little differently—and FilterPixel 4.0 makes that super flexible.
At the top-left corner of your screen, you’ll find a View Slider. This simple tool lets you adjust your layout in real time depending on how closely—or widely—you want to view your images.
Here’s how it works:
-
Slide it to the left for a zoomed-in layout, where you review one or two large images at a time—perfect for deep focus checks or expression comparisons.
-
Slide it to the right to reveal more images in one frame. This gives you a bird's-eye view of your shoot, ideal for getting the big picture,
3X Bigger Review Mode
Compare similar or burst shots in a 3X larger layout. Find the perfect frame with ease and clarity to keep your work flowing seamlessly.
Once you’ve imported your images, FilterPixel opens up to the main gallery layout where you can see all your photos at a glance. To dive deeper, simply click the "Stack of Pages" icon located at the top-left corner of the screen—this will take you into Review Mode.
In Review Mode, FilterPixel automatically groups similar or duplicate photos into organised sets, making it easier to review bursts, bracketed exposures, or slight variations in poses. Each group clearly displays how many images are in the set, helping you quickly identify where you’ll want to compare and choose the best frames.
16X Closer Face Mode
We’ve made facial review faster and more intuitive than ever. You can go to Face Mode, that is inside Review Mode and take an even closer look into your subject's faces. When in Review Mode click Spacebar once to open Face Mode. And here is what happens:
- It will auto-zoom into a face so you can spot expression and sharpness.
- Lets you cycle through all detected faces using ← and → keys.
- Press spacebar again to jump back to full view/Review Mode.
Say goodbye to constant zooming and clicking—this is reviewing done right. It's perfect for checking expressions and sharpness with zero extra effort.
Survey Mode
Want to review similar images in depth? You can enter Survey Mode only from within Review Mode by clicking the "Copy" icon on a similar photo set. In Review Mode, you’ll see how FilterPixel has grouped similar or duplicate photos into tidy sets. Look for the Copy Icon on each similar set – This icon looks just like a standard “copy-paste” symbol. Click that icon – Boom, you’re in Survey Mode.
What Happens in Survey Mode? You’ll see up to 12 similar photos side-by-side in one clean frame. Zoom or pan on any one of them—and all the others move with you. So if you're checking for subtle differences in focus or expressions? It’s all synced.
No more clicking one-by-one to compare—just scroll, scan, and select.
Organise with AI Tags
Need all the “kiss” moments from a ceremony? Or “dancing” shots from a reception? FilterPixel lets you pull up the exact frames you need—instantly. No scrolling, no guessing, just click and filter.
Crop + Straighten In One Click
Need to fix a tilted horizon or frame your subject just right? FilterPixel 4.0 now lets you crop and straighten photos directly in the app—with just one click. No need to jump into Lightroom or Photoshop for basic adjustments anymore.
Whether it’s a slightly off-angle shot or a composition tweak to improve balance, you can:
Auto-straighten with precision
Crop manually to focus on the moment
